The incident occurred in a nearby neighborhood and has been resolved, police said.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A high school in Gloucester Township sheltered in place Tuesday because of an incident away from school property, police said.

Highland Regional High School sheltered in place Tuesday morning for about 45 minutes. During such protocols, schools typically lock their exterior doors while class continues as scheduled.

An incident in a nearby residential neighborhood prompted Highland High School to shelter in place as a precaution. Details about the incident weren't immediately available, but police said it has been resolved.
