Threat To Glassboro Schools Ruled 'Not Credible', Shelter In Place Lifted: Police
A social media threat to an unnamed Glassboro school led to the lockdown, police said. It was lifted after more than three hours.
GLASSBORO, NJ — A shelter in place for Glassboro's schools has been lifted after a social media post that threatened violence was determined to be in another state and no credible threat locally, Glassboro police said Thursday afternoon.
"Earlier this morning, our agency was made aware of a possible threat to an unnamed Glassboro School that was made via a social media post," Glassboro police said in an update. "Out of an abundance of caution, all Glassboro Schools were put in a 'shelter in place' while we investigated the credibility and origin of the threat."
The investigation determined the threat had originated in another state; police did not say which state.

Social media rumors prompted the police department to issue a statement late in the morning to dispel claims of a shooting or that students had been injured.
"Contrary to reports seen and heard on social and other media outlets, there has NOT been an active shooter, shooting incident or any act of violence at Glassboro High School or any Glassboro Public Schools," the statement said.
"NO students have been injured and ALL STAFF AND STUDENTS ARE SAFE," the statement said.
A photo from Glassboro High School tweeted out by FOX29 showed law enforcement outside the high school and quoted a parent as saying students remained in their classrooms and were being escorted to and from the bathroom and lunch during the shelter in place.
