Hundreds of local businesses will participate in the initiative to bring holiday shoppers to smaller establishments.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, shoppers have a day to put small businesses in the forefront. And plenty of Gloucester Township shops, restaurants and establishments will participate in Small Business Saturday.
Founded by American Express in 2010, the unofficial holiday began as a way to celebrate and support small businesses. The new tradition is designed to encourage consumers to make holiday purchases at local brick-and-mortar establishments.
Hundreds of Gloucester Township businesses are participating in the initiative, which gets them listed on the Small Business Saturday map or directory. Here are a few examples:
