South Jersey Hit-And-Run Leaves Girl, 10, In Critical Condition: Police

The driver of a white SUV fled the scene, police said. The case remains under investigation.

BRIDGETON, NJ — A South Jersey hit-and-run left a 10-year-old girl in critical condition Wednesday evening, authorities said. Now the Bridgeton Police Department seeks the driver, who they say fled the scene.

Police responded to Wawa at 7:07 p.m. for a reported crash involving a pedestrian. Through preliminary investigation, police found that a 10-year-old Bridgeton resident was crossing E Broad Street toward the convenience store when a white SUV struck her.

The crash left the girl with serious injuries. Her condition was critical as of Thursday morning, police said.

The driver fled the scene and was last seen traveling northbound on Bank Street Extension, heading toward E Commerce Street, according to Bridgeton PD.
