A New Jersey man robbed a store, ran into traffic and was killed by a car this weekend, police said.

A South Jersey man robbed a store, ran into traffic and was killed by a car this weekend, police said.

Donte Bryson, 25, of Sicklerville, ran into a roadway from the southbound lanes Saturday and was struck by a black Chevy Blazer traveling north. Troopers responded to State Highway 42 northbound in the area of milepost 7.6 in Gloucester Township for reports of a pedestrian who was struck after entering the roadway.

A preliminary investigation, which included witness statements, revealed that Bryson was attempting to flee Gloucester Premium Outlets after being suspected of shoplifting by security personnel, police said.

The driver of the Chevy was not injured in the crash and is cooperating with the investigation.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, police said.
