Stabbing, Fire At Same South Jersey Home Under Investigation

As officers met the stabbing victim in the hospital, firefighters were dispatched to the same home.

BRIDGETON, NJ — A stabbing and a fire took place at the same Cumberland County home, hospitalizing two people Saturday, authorities said.

Bridgeton police are investigating how the series of events unfolded. No arrests have been made as of Monday afternoon.

A man was stabbed inside a home on the 100 block of Oak Street, police said. Officers reported to the hospital Saturday afternoon, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

As police investigated the stabbing, the Bridgeton Fire Department was dispatched shortly after to the same home, where heavy smoke was emanating.

A woman who lived in the home suffered smoke inhalation and was flown to Temple University Hospital. Three of her children were also present but weren't injured, police said.

Both injured victims have been released from the hospital.
