Student Made Fake Bomb Threat To Gloucester Township School: Police

The child was charged with second-degree creating false public alarm.

SICKLERVILLE, NJ — A student was charged after placing a bomb threat at a Gloucester Township middle school, authorities said. Ann A. Mullen Middle School was evacuated Tuesday, and no devices were found during the search, according to police.

Just before 9 a.m., a school resource officer was advised that a note was found in a bathroom that stated there was a bomb in the building, according to the Gloucester Township Police Department. School officials ordered an evacuation, and preschool students were temporarily transferred to Timber Creek Regional High School, as per emergency plans, officials said.

Additional officers arrived at the scene, and explosive-detection K-9s conducted interior and exterior explosive checks at the school. No devices were found, and school officials repopulated the building shortly after.

No one was injured, but one child suffered a minor medical emergency during the evacuation, police said. They were treated at the scene and released to their parents.

Agencies responding to the scene included Gloucester Township police, Camden County Sheriff's Department, the Cherry Hill Police Department, Gloucester Township Fire Department Station 85 and Inspira EMS.
