Substitute Teacher Sexually Assaulted Girl In Gloucester Twp. Home: Prosecutor

The woman sexually assaulted the victim multiple times throughout a 4-year period, authorities said.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Camden County substitute teacher was charged Thursday with eight counts of sexual assault against a 14-year-old girl, officials said.

Rebecca Coddington sexually assaulted the victim multiple times throughout a four-year period in a Gloucester Township home, authorities said. She was arrested in the township Tuesday and placed in the Camden County Correctional Facility, pending a Friday detention hearing.

Coddington, 27, works for the Runnemede Public School District, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office (CCPO). But authorities haven't received any allegations involving district students.

Coddington was contracted with Runnemede schools through Kelly Services — a staffing agency that operates globally and provides substitute teachers for several local school districts. Her current employment status with the agency wasn't immediately clear. Patch contacted Kelly Services for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

Runnemede Superintendent Mark Iannucci sent a letter to the school community Thursday addressing Coddington's arrest:

"This letter is to inform you that the Runnemede School District has been notified by law enforcement that an individual contracted through our substitute service provider is in police custody. The individual has worked in the Runnemede Schools as a substitute teacher. We are cooperating with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office as they investigate the allegations.

We have been told that no Runnemede students were involved, and the allegations did not occur in the individual's capacity as a substitute teacher.

As information regarding this situation becomes public, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s counselor if assistance is needed.

Thank you for your continued support of our district."
