Timber Creek Basketball Teams Play in Tournament Finals at Rowan University

The boys and girls each advanced to the final of the James G. Atkinson Memorial tournament.

The Timber Creek High School boys and girls basketball teams will each play in a tournament final at Rowan University Saturday night.

Dikemba Amugo scored 15 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked a shot to lead the Timber Creek High School boys basketball team to a 54-42 win over Deptford in the first round of the James G. Atkinson Memorial Classic on Friday, according to nj.com.

Randy Bell had 13 points, a rebound, three assists and five steals in the win.

Timber Creek held a two-point lead after the first quarter, but extended that lead by outscoring Deptford, 27-15, in the second and third quarters combined.

Timber Creek will play Paulsboro, a 70-66 winner over Winslow, in the tournament final Saturday night, 8 p.m.

Brittany Martin scored 17 points, grabbed four rebounds, and had three assists and seven steals to lead the Timber Creek High School girls basketball team to a 61-23 win over Paulsboro in the first round of the James G. Atkinson Memorial Classic on Friday, according to nj.com.

Summer Pierce had nine points, four rebounds and seven steals, Fatimah Williams had eight points and four rebounds, and Kayla Cade had five points and seven rebounds.

Timber Creek jumped out to a 22-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Timber Creek’s defense held Paulsboro to single digit outputs in each quarter.

Timber Creek will face Kingsway, a 43-8 winner over Glassboro, in the tournament final Saturday night at 6 p.m.
