Gloucester Township, NJ -- The Timber Creek Regional High School football team will have the chance to defend its South Jersey Group 4 championship this season.
The NJSIAA released its group classifications for the 2016 season last week, and Timber Creek will remain in Group 4, according to nj.com.
Classifications remained the same for all three Black Horse Pike Regional football teams, as Highland remains in Group 4, and Triton remains in Group 3.

Groups are set up based on school size and location.
In football, the largest schools are in Group 5, the next largest are in Group 4, etc., down to the smallest classification at Group 1.

Teams qualify for the playoffs based on power points, which are awarded based on strength of schedule. Wins over teams in larger groups are worth more power points than wins over teams in smaller groups.
Timber Creek will compete in the West Jersey Football League’s National Division this season, with Cherry Hill East (Group 5), Eastern Regional (Group 5), Paul VI (Group 4), Clearview (Group 4) and Delsea (Group 3).
Triton and Highland are both in the Royal Division, along with Moorestown (Group 4), Bishop Eustace (Group 3), Cumberland Regional (Group 4) and Woodrow Wilson (Group 4).
