Timber Creek High School Football Team Falls to Hammonton

The team must wait to see where it ends up in the playoff field.

The Timber Creek High School football team will have to see how the power points play out to find out where they will be positioned in this year’s NJSIAA South Jersey Group IV playoffs.

After Timber Creek lost to Hammonton, 24-17, and Shawnee defeated Eastern, 49-12, Shawnee appears to have clinched the No. 2 seed in the group, according to an analysis of the group playoff picture posted on nj.com.

Timber Creek and Bridgeton will now wait to see how residual power points play out to determine the third and fourth seeds.

Hammonton is likely to be the No. 1 seed, but needed overtime to get past Timber Creek Friday night. Malachi Winters scored the game-winning touchdown on a 1-yard run.

Hammonton scored the first 17 points, but Timber Creek battled back to tie the game at 17-17 and force the extra period.

Timber Creek tied the game on a Devin Leary 2-yard touchdown pass to Ezrah Archie, after Harold Coleman put Timber Creek on the board with a 1-yard touchdown run in the third. Tyler Coluccio kicked a 29-yard field goal.

Timber Creek is now 5-3.

Mainland’s 31-14 over Vineland eliminated Highland from playoff contention.

Highland finished the season with a 4-5 record.

Unofficial playoff matchups will be announced on Sunday.
