Timber Creek, Triton Open Football Season With Big Wins

Triton came from behind for a one-point win and Timber Crreek scored 32 points in the fourth, according to nj.com.

The Triton High School football team came from behind to defeat Cherry Hill West by one point in the opening game of the 2014 season, according to nj.com.

Triton prevailed, 20-19.

Cherry Hill West scored the first 13 points of the game, in the first quarter.

However, fortunes changed in the second quarter, when Dominic Staiano picked off a pass and returned it 42 yards for a Triton score.

Jake McGlinchey’s 10-yard run later in the quarter helped Triton to pull within one point heading into halftime.

McGlinchey scored again in the fourth, on a 5-yard run. He caught a pass from Kevin Bucceroni for the two-point conversion, which proved the difference. Cherry Hill West scored once more, but failed to convert the PAT kick.

The Black Horse Pike Regional schools went 2-1 on opening night.

Timber Creek exploded for 19 points in the fourth quarter to pull away with a 32-7 win over Pennsauken. Pennsauken took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, but Timber Creek tied the score just before halftime.

Timber Creek tacked on six more points in the third quarter, but really came alive in the final stanza.

Highland Regional scored all its points in the fourth quarter of a 49-14 loss to Camden.
