Tourette’s Syndrome Awareness Day
Please join our community today, June 4, in celebrating Tourette's Syndrome Awareness Day
Gloucester Township has officially declared June 4, 2019 as Tourette’s Syndrome Awareness Day. Pictured above is First Grader, Skarlet Averona of Blackwood Elementary School, who has been diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome. When she was diagnosed her family felt the need to spread awareness in the community for support of her and all other families along the same journey. After researching local support groups and coming up short on information, Skarlet and her Family wrote a letter to our Mayor and have been granted this day to bring Awareness and support to our community. By doing this , they would like anyone along this journey and their families to know that they are supported by our community with compassion and understanding. Please contact Tourettestroops@gmail.com to contact Tracy Averona for information on upcoming local support group meetings (and much more information).
