Trenton Cop Indicted On Child Sex Assault Charges In Burlington

A Trenton police officer has been indicted on a litany of charges in the sexual assaults of two children, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced.

William L. Sanchez-Monllor, 37, of Burlington Township, was indicted on 10 counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, eight counts of second-degree sexual assault, six counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of second-degree official misconduct, eight counts of third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact, five counts of third-degree invasion of privacy, one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, one count of third-degree terroristic threats and five counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.

The 46-count indictment was returned by a grand jury on Thursday and signed by Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office First Assistant Prosecutor Philip S. Aronow. An arraignment will be scheduled soon in Superior Court in Mount Holly.

Sanchez-Monllor has been detained in the Burlington County Jail since being arrested in September. Details of the assaults were sealed by a Superior Court judge.

The indictment against Sanchez-Monllor was presented by Assistant Prosecutor Stephen Eife, supervisor of the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Special Victims Section.

The case was investigated by detectives from the Burlington Township Police Department and the Prosecutor’s Office. The lead investigators are Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office Det. Tony Luyber and Burlington Township Det. Ruben Ortiz-Cruz.
