Triton High School Softball Team in Playoff Semifinals After 2 Upsets
No. 10 Triton has defeated the No. 7 and No. 2 seeds so far in the tournament.

Gloucester Township, NJ -- Following a pair of upsets, the Triton High School softball team has advanced to the semifinals of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 playoffs, according to nj.com.
Triton entered the 16-team tournament as the No. 10 seed.
In the opening round on Monday, it upset No. 7 Gloucester Tech, 3-1, in 10 innings.

Nikita Acker drove in the winning runs in the top of the 10th. Giavonna Ceriminaro picked up the win on the mound, pitching the full 10 innings and permitting just three hits.
Neither team scored its first run until the ninth, when each team scored once, setting up Acker’s heroics.

On Wednesday, No. 2 Pinelands fell victim to Triton, dropping the 2-1 decision in the quarterfinals.
Acker scored the go-ahead run on an error in the fifth inning, and was 2-for-4 with a double. Ceriminaro pitched another complete game, striking out four, allowing five hits and walking two.
Triton will be asked to pull off another upset on May 31, when it visits No. 3 Lacey in the semifinals. Lacey opened the playoffs with a 12-4 win over No. 14 Hammonton before defeating No. 11 Toms River East, 12-0, in the quarterfinals.
