Triton, Highland May Meet in High School Baseball Semifinals

The Triton and Highland Regional High School baseball teams may have one more showdown coming.

Triton was seeded sixth and Highland was seeded seventh in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group III playoffs, according to nj.com.

Triton will host No. 11 Pinelands in the first round on Monday, 4 p.m. The winner plays the winner of the game between No. 3 Toms River South and No. 14 Oakcrest on May 21.

Highland will host No. 10 Hammonton simultaneously. The winner plays the winner of the game between No. 2 Mainland and No. 15 Cumberland, also on May 21.

If both teams win their first two games, they will meet in the semifinals on May 26. The game would be played at Triton.

The final is set for May 29.

When the teams played on April 16, the game ended in a rare 8-8 tie.

Highland won the second game, 3-1, on May 11.

Triton finished the season with three more wins to earn the higher seed. Triton was 15-10-1, while Highland was 12-8-1.

Triton’s first round opponent, Pinelands, was 12-10. Highland’s first round opponent, Hammonton, was 8-13.

First round matchups, all set for Monday at 4p.m., are as follows:
