Triton Softball Team Falls Short of Camden County Title

Triton fell to Gloucester, 8-7, in the tournament final on Saturday.

The Triton High School softball team fell one run shy of winning the Camden County championship on Saturday.

Gloucester defeated Triton, 8-7, to capture the title at Eastern Regional High School, according to nj.com. Madison Chain hit a walkoff homerun to give Gloucester the tournament title.

Triton fell in an early hole, but tied the game with four runs in the top of the seventh, according to the report. Holly Heintz was 1-for-4 with a run, a double and an RBI for Triton. Triton opened the season with a record of 2-1 in the tournament.

Triton advanced to the final with a 10-0 win over Eastern, according to nj.com. Winning pitcher Giavonna Ceriminaro fanned three, walked four and gave up four hits. At the plate, she was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Nicole Davidson was 1-for-4 with a run, a double and three RBI.

Triton opened the tournament with an 8-6 win over Audubon, according to nj.com. It won that game with two runs in the fifth inning before the game was called after reaching the time limit. Nicole Davidson was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Erica Tompkins was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Mackenzie Lafferty picked up the win on the mound.
