Two Fatal Crashes Within Minutes In Gloucester Township

The first crash involved a motorcyclist, while the other involved the driver of a van, reports said.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Two separate fatal accidents occurred around 4 a.m. Saturday in Gloucester Township, authorities said.

In the first crash, motorcyclist James Smith, 47, of Bridgeton, was killed when his motorcycle struck an oil tanker and flipped on State Route 42 South in Gloucester Township, New Jersey State Police said.

A passenger on the motorcycle, a 43-year-old woman from Bridgeton, suffered minor injuries in the crash. The driver of the oil tanker was not hurt, according to New Jersey State Police.

The second crash occurred on Sicklerville Road between Jarvis Road and Stonebridge Drive, Gloucester Township Police said.

A driver veered his van off the road and into a tree, 6abc reported.

The Gloucester Township Police Department could not be reached for comment on the second crash Monday morning.
