Vineland Woman Killed In Semi Truck Crash Near Cumberland Mall

A 30-year-old woman has died after her car was hit by a tractor-trailer on Thursday as she was leaving the mall area, Vineland Police said.

VINELAND, NJ — Vineland Police say a woman has died after her car was hit by a semi truck after she left the Cumberland Mall on Thursday.

Officers arrived just before 1 p.m. on Dec. 22 to a reported crash on Southwest Boulevard in the area of Burns Avenue, according to a news release from Vineland Police. The driver of a 2000 Honda Civic came out of the Cumberland Mall driveway and into the path of a southbound 2021 Freightliner tractor-trailer, police said, citing a preliminary investigation.

Police said first responders transported the driver of the Civic, 30-year-old Kiromy Saldana-Gonzalez of Vineland, to Cooper Hospital in Camden with life-threatening injuries. Hospital staff pronounced her dead Friday morning, police said.

Vineland Police did not indicate if the driver of the semi truck, a woman from Chesapeake, Va., was injured.

No charges have been filed in connection to the crash, police said, and the investigation continues. Officer Anthony Capelli is the lead investigator on the case, and police ask anyone with more information about the crash to contact the Vineland PD Traffic Safety Unit at (856) 691-4111, ext. 4350.
