Woman, Dogs Rescued From Icy Pond In Gloucester Twp.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A woman and her dogs were rescued after falling into an icy pond on Sunday in Gloucester Township.

First responders flocked to Timber Creek Dog Park at 1:45 p.m., after the victim and her two dogs fell through the ice in a pond about a quarter-mile off the roadway.

The woman had been trying to save her pets, Chews Landing Fire Chief Mike Millisky told NBC10.

"She was lucky enough that someone was walking through the woods and saw her in the water and called 911," Millisky told the news outlet. "She probably was there maybe at least 15, 20 minutes before we were actually able to get her."

First responders, including firefighters and rescue teams, successfully pulled the woman and dogs from the water, officials said.

The woman was unconscious but began breathing after receiving CPR. She was brought to Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

The Chews Landing Fire Department spearheaded rescue efforts, with help from the Camden County Search and Rescue team, Gloucester Township police and firefighters from nearby communities.

Police advised people to use "extreme caution near frozen bodies of water, as changing temperatures can create unpredictable and unsafe ice conditions."

The north branch of the Big Timber Creek runs adjacent to Timber Creek Park, which has a play area for dogs.
