Year end inventory of our District and Board

Well let us start with the positive, Bill Collins was voted off the Board and Dominic Gagliardi was voted in. New blood, new ideas. Current Board members Ried, Gilch, and Reese finally started showing some backbone and started voicing their opinions. While I realize the positives are a short list, it is a start none the less.

Now as for the negatives, you have the very painfully obvious Bilodeau, Acerba and Martin are still in positions of leadership in our district. Bilodeau's lack of teaching experience, lack of fresh ideas and lack of confidence in his leadership by most District employees is troubling to say the least. Our new Curriculum Supervisor this year Acerba, first order of business was hiring an outside company to help her with her new position. Dr. Martin, refused to answer parents questions at a Board meeting, some issues concerning leadership. The common thread with these three Administrators of our District, lack of strong leadership, lack of fresh ideas and lack of confidence from district employees in the leadership ability of these three. Another negative current Board members Gunn, Coyle, Carr and Fontanez, they continue with their political games voting not what is best for the children of the District, instead voting along party lines. There is no transparency with this Board or Administration, there is no respect given to residents who dare ask questions or voice concerns. These four Board members tried to force feed residents an appointment to the Board that couldn't even pass a criminal background check. Then to add insult to injury when they tried to appoint a new Board member they couldn't even handle that it had to go to the County Superintendent to do. These four Board members can find money and jobs for the politically connected like Councilman Mercado in our District, or for contractors, like the company that installed all the Solar panels in the District. Now they want the sidewalks to nowhere. We still have schools failing, we have weak leadership, a dysfunctional Board, that can't seem to do it's job without some hidden political agenda. Yet this year like every other year they have the nerve to come to residents crying poor mouth and they need more money to make things right. Seems odd more money yet we have declining student enrollment and we seem to hire more Administrators. Sometimes more money isn't the answer, sometimes new leadership is. Leaders with fresh ideas, leaders that respect residents, students and employees. Leaders that have no political agenda, their only concern is what is best for the children of this District. Leaders that employees have confidence in and inspire them to follow.

Residents can still make a difference, they need to remember all this and talk to anybody that will listen and convince people to get out and vote and to vote for new Board members so we can start making changes. With new Board members then we can move to the next step new and effective leadership, out with Bilodeau, Acerba and Martin and with new ideas, a sense of confidence and a new day.
