2 More Unlicensed Taxi Drivers Arrested In Hackettstown: Police

Police are cracking down on unlicensed taxi drivers picking children up at school.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — Police arrested two more unlicensed taxi drivers last week as part of a crackdown on the practice, police said.

Martha Allardice, 48, and Derek Allardice, 46, both of Belvidere, were arrested on Friday for allegedly using personal vehicles as taxis. Both were accused of picking children up at school.

"We have been having issues with illegal taxis and legal taxis not following the ordinance," Sgt. Darren Tynan told Patch. "We have been cracking down for the safety of our residents that use taxis."

Both were arrested at Hatchery Hill School, and were charged with not having an omnibus registration, no taxi license, no taxi insurance and no taxi inspection, and released with an upcoming court date.
