NJ Apartment Fire Severely Burns Man, Leaves Others Homeless

WARREN COUNTY, NJ — One person was severely injured, and others were left homeless after an apartment fire in Warren County this week.

On Monday, around 1:30 p.m., first responders were called to 45 East Washington Avenue in Washington Borough on reports of a man being on fire.

Authorities found that the apartment complex had caught fire and that a 42-year-old man was inside the structure during the blaze. He suffered serious burn injuries and, after being treated by EMTs, was airlifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Authorities evacuated the apartment building and nearby businesses while fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze.

No other injuries were reported by police.

A preliminary investigation revealed no suspicious findings as to what caused the fire.

Police said several displaced residents received assistance from the American Red Cross for temporary housing and related services.
