HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — The Hackettstown High School Fishing Club spent Saturday casting lines where New Jersey's fish get their start.
The club, led by advisor John Scalera and club president Marcus McCauley, was invited to the Charles O. Hayford State Fish Hatchery in Hackettstown by Superintendent Craig Lemon.
Students partnered with special education Unified students to tour the hatchery pools, take part in an educational class and fish in one of the hatchery's grow ponds.
Each student received a free rod, reel and tackle box to take home.
The school thanked Lemon and the hatchery employees "for a wonderful day."
