A several-hour search and recovery mission ensued, spearheaded by several departments from both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Eventually, the body was recovered near the Route 22 bridge and the Northampton Street Bridge, which connects Phillipsburg, NJ, and Easton, Pa.

A GoFundMe identified the victim as Brian King, 45, of Pennsylvania.

The fundraiser, which has raised more than $2,000 for King’s wife and 14-year-old son, said he was a “loving and kind father, husband, and friend, and always made a new friend everywhere he went.”

Taking part in the recovery mission were Pennsylvania Water Rescue Station 72, Easton Professional Firefighters, Garden State Underwater Recovery Unit, Phillipsburg Emergency Squad, Phillipsburg Fire Dept., Huntington Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Station 75 Fire, Easton Emergency Squad, and the New Jersey State Police.
