Knife-Wielding Man Tased By Cops In North Jersey Home: Officials

The man was "screaming and yelling" in his home before police arrived, authorities said.

WARREN COUNTY, NJ — A confrontation between police and a man with a knife ended with the man being tased in Warren County, according to officials.

On July 28, around 7 p.m., police were called to a home on the 100 block of West Washington Avenue in Washington Borough on reports of a man "screaming and yelling" inside.

Police found an "uncooperative" 60-year-old resident in the home, official said.

When police tried to speak with the resident, he pulled a knife and refused to drop it, despite several commands from officers, according to authorities.

One officer deployed his Conducted Energy Device (CED) on the man, debilitating him and allowing other officers to disarm him, police said.

The man received medical attention before being arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, terroristic threats, and disorderly conduct. He was taken to the Warren County Jail to await court proceedings.
