The Hackettstown Police Department, Town of Hackettstown and Hackettstown BID are teaming up for the contest.
Residents must finish decorating by Oct. 26, with judging scheduled for Oct. 27 and 28 as officers patrol the area. Winners will be notified Oct. 29.
Prizes and bragging rights will be awarded for the most original and spookiest outdoor decorations, with one winner selected from each of five areas: Willow Grove, Centenary, West Valley View/East Prospect, Mitchell Road and College View.
Registration is not required for the contest. Residents only need to decorate their homes to participate.
"Let's make Hackettstown the spookiest town around!" the township said.
