HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — Operation Toy Train is returning to Hackettstown for its third year, and residents can help collect toys for children this holiday season.
According to a township announcement, the train will stop at Hoff's Automotive, 700 Grand Avenue, on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 9:15 to 10 a.m.
The event collects new, unwrapped toys for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, benefiting children in Bergen, Essex, Morris, Sussex and Warren counties.
Marley's Food Truck will provide free breakfast sandwiches, coffee and hot chocolate. The New Jersey Civic Youth Ballet will also bring The Nutcracker.
Residents unable to attend can donate toys before Dec. 5 at the Hackettstown Municipal Building or Police Department, both at 215 West Stiger Street, or the Hackettstown Business Improvement District at 219 Main Street.
According to the township, the community donated 1,005 toys and two bicycles to Operation Toy Train last year, with hopes of collecting even more this year.
TOYX, Inc., a nonprofit organization, runs the Operation Toy Train program.
