PHOENIX ROD & CUSTOM CLASSIC CAR ENTRY TAKES FOUR HONORS, INCLUDING BEST IN CLASS, AT 2013 WORLD OF WHEELS CAR SHOW IN CHICAGO
Fully Restored and Customized 1932 Ford Coupe Takes Top Placements among 700 Competitors at Prestigious Custom Auto Show
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J., March 20, 2013 -- Phoenix Rod & Custom, LLC, a custom hot rod and auto restoration shop in Hackettstown, N.J. took home four honors for its entry, a 1932 Ford coupe named “Victoria’s Deucenberg” at the 52th annual World of Wheels show in Chicago, Ill. The invitation-only show, which featured approximately 700 vehicles from around the country, was held March 1-3, 2013 at the Donald Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont; it is sponsored by Championship Auto Shows, America’s premier custom car show series. Showing the car was Phoenix Rod & Custom owner Glenn Smith, who has exhibited the winner at several prestigious auto shows. Victoria’s Deucenberg is owned by Phoenix customer Dave Mirro of Nazareth, Pa.
The 5-window fully restored car, named for its owner’s daughter, won two awards and two titles at the Chicago World of Wheels: Outstanding in Class (Altered Street Coupe); 2nd place in the Legend Cup, the Best of Show award; Top 20 of Show; and Select 6, which honors the top six vehicles of the entire show. The automobile underwent a complete makeover and customization over a four-year period by the professionals at Phoenix. It is notable for its bright Candy Red paint color, extensive chrome trim, and custom features: a custom dashboard, custom emblems, custom wheels, and an elaborate interior with faux crocodile leather.
Phoenix has entered Victoria’s Deucenberg in four national auto shows including its debut at the Detroit Autorama in 2010, where it won Best in Class and was featured in the Detroit Free Press newspaper.

“The World of Wheels draws the best custom cars in the country,” noted Smith, “and we’re proud to say this vintage car always comes away with notable placements and prizes. Victoria’s Deucenberg has placed in all four shows we’ve competed in.”
