'Boom Box' With 'Alarming' Note Detonated After Bomb Scare, Cops Say
Shops evacuated while authorities investigated Monday, police report.

An evacuation of local shops in Florham Park Monday morning led to the explosion of radio equipment after a bomb scare, police said.
Just before 10 a.m. Florham Park Police received a call about a suspicious item in the parking lot of 176 Columbia Turnpike, police said. Patrols responded and found a “boom box” style radio with an “alarming” note attached to it, police said.
Police then requested the assistance of the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad and the shopping area was evacuated. At 12:30 p.m. the device was deemed safe and detonated it. At that point the shopping center was re-opened, police said.
