Gunhild Carling Opens Centenary Stage Company Season In Hackettstown
"Sweden's Queen of Swing" brings jazz, 11 instruments and theatrical flair to Centenary Stage Company next Saturday.
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — Hackettstown will swing into a new season when an internationally acclaimed Swedish jazz performer takes the stage at Centenary Stage Company.
Musician Gunhild Carling will open Centenary Stage Company’s 2026-27 season at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, September 12, at Sitnik Theatre in the Lackland Performing Arts Center, 715 Grand Avenue.
Billed as “Sweden’s Queen of Swing,” Carling sings jazz standards and plays as many as 11 instruments, including trumpet, trombone, harmonica, oboe, harp, flute, recorder and jazz bagpipe. Her act includes juggling and tap dancing, with a finale featuring three trumpets played at once.

Centenary calls the performance a “can’t-miss event” and says Carling’s “sublime showmanship shines.”
Advance tickets cost $30 to $45 and increase by $5 on performance day. A $2 convenience fee applies, and all sales are final.
