Hackettstown Cheer Team Honored With Mayoral Proclamation For State Title

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — Hackettstown High School's state champion Traditional Competition Cheer Team was recognized with a mayoral proclamation at Thursday night's Town Council meeting.

Mayor Jerry DiMaio presented the proclamation honoring the team's performance at the NJCDCA Cheerleading State Championship on March 8, where the squad "demonstrated exceptional dedication, teamwork, perseverance, and school spirit."

The team earned "an impressive victory over a larger Group 4 school, Phillipsburg High School, showcasing the heart and spirit of Hackettstown athletics," according to the proclamation.

The proclamation also noted the team's commitment beyond competition season. The athletes dedicate hours throughout the school year supporting football games, boys and girls basketball games, wrestling matches and school activities, along with community events including parades, Oktoberfest, National Night Out and the town's New Year's Eve celebration, "proudly representing Hackettstown as positive ambassadors both on and off the mat."

"The success of this team reflects not only the dedication of the athletes, but also the support of their coaches, families, school administrators, and the entire Hackettstown community," the proclamation states.

The mayor and Town Council also extended appreciation to the athletes, coaches, families and supporters "whose commitment continues to strengthen school spirit and community pride throughout Hackettstown."
