Hackettstown Halloween Downtown Parade, Trick-Or-Treating Set

Hackettstown's Halloween Downtown will feature a parade, costume contest, trick-or-treating and more.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — Costumes, candy and pumpkins will fill downtown Hackettstown when the town's annual Halloween celebration gets underway Saturday, Oct. 31.

The 13th Annual Halloween Downtown runs from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Gazebo at Main and West Moore streets. Parade lineup and judging begin at noon at Centenary University on West Moore Street, between Beatty Street and Second Avenue.

The costume contest will award prizes for the best costumes in five categories: infants to age 3, ages 4 to 6, ages 7 to 10, families and pets of any age. Winners will join Mayor Jerry DiMaio at the front of the parade.

The parade steps off at 1 p.m. and heads down West Moore Street to The Gazebo. Afterward, kids can trick-or-treat at downtown businesses and visit trunk-or-treat locations in the rear parking lot of Trinity United Methodist Church, 213 Main Street, and Municipal Lot #2 behind EXIT Realty Connections NJ, 149 Main Street. Signs will direct families to the locations.

Kids can pick up candy from Mars Snacking, gifts from Hackettstown Stormwater Management and treats from WRNJ Radio. Free pumpkins from Donaldson Farms will also be available while supplies last.

“Don’t miss this fantastic Halloween tradition! We can’t wait to see you in your best costumes,” the township said.

The event is sponsored by the Hackettstown Police Department, Town of Hackettstown, Mars Snacking, Hackettstown Business Improvement District, Donaldson Farms and WRNJ Radio.
