Hackettstown High School's Last Day Is June 16: What Parents Need to Know

A used snow day shifted the end-of-year calendar — here's the full breakdown for students and families.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — Hackettstown High School's last day of school will be June 16, after one inclement weather day was used, trimming a scheduled "Give Back" day from the end of the year. The change also shifted the exam schedule and obligation days.

Here's how the final weeks break down.

Exams run June 8 through 11. June 8 and 9 are full days with lunch served; June 10 is a full day with lunch and includes goodbye classes for blocks 1 through 6; June 11 is an early dismissal with no lunch, when the last two exam blocks will be taken. After exams on June 11, students will participate in the "Final Roar" — a send-off that includes locker cleanout, returning materials and signing yearbooks.

Students will have 15 minutes to clean out lockers during the Final Roar but are encouraged to start bringing items home earlier in the week. Any items left behind after the last day will be discarded. The school is also warning families that damage to lockers — including Sharpie writing or stickers — will result on a fine on the student's account, with photos sent to families over the summer during inspection.

The three remaining days after exams — June 12, 15 and 16 — are "Obligation Days," which are early dismissal days with no lunch.

June 15 is also commencement. Students are not required to attend unless they have a specific obligation such as returning materials, paying fines or class dues, attendance recovery, special education makeup work, a scheduled appointment with a staff member, or graduation practice. Students who do not come in will be marked state-excused.

Students with damaged or malfunctioning Chromebooks should submit a repair ticket through the school website and turn in the device at the HHS Library between June 8 and June 12. Repaired devices will be returned at the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
