Hackettstown Man Assaulted Officers, Resisted Arrest: Police

William Canfield was jailed after trying to fight off officers, police said.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - A 58-year-old Hackettstown man was sent to the Warren County Correctional Facility after a dispute with police on Jan. 11, according to the Hackettstown Police Department.

According to authorities, Hackettstown Police were called to a Willow Grove Street home shortly after 1 a.m. on the report of a dispute. As police were attempting to arrest William Canfield he slammed the front door on an officer's right forearm and attempted to use physical force to avoid arrest, police said.

Canfield was eventually handcuffed and charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement and resisting arrest, police said.
