Disorderly Man Who Tried to Hit Hackettstown Officer Arrested: Police
Brian McElwaine became aggressive when police tried to put him in an ambulance.

Hackettstown Police arrested an Independence Township man on Monday for disorderly conduct and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
Officers responded to a call regarding a welfare check on Brian McElwaine, 29, on Route 604 at around 2 p.m., police said.
When police arrived to the scene, they found McElwaine, who was injured from falling off his bicycle. According to police, he seemed to be intoxicated.

The officers tried to put McElwaine in an ambulance, but he became aggressive and attempted to fight them, according to information from police. When the officers put McElwaine in a police car, he kicked an officer in the hand and forearm, police said. Once McElwaine was inside the police car, he kicked the inside rear passenger door, police reported.
McElwaine couldn't post the $5,000 needed for bail, so he was sent to the Warren County Correctional Facility.
