Hackettstown Police Join Snapchat

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ —Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes in the Hackettstown Police Department? Thanks to their new Snapchat account, you can now find out.

In addition to their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts, HPD will now update residents on whats happening through their Snapchat. Their first post, pictured above, is of their hardworking colleague, K9 Jada. (It should be noted the account is not for emergencies, and anyone who needs emergency help should still call 911.)

Snapchat followers can expect to see highlights of different officers, 10 second clips about different police topics and, of course, K9 Jada.

"Some people might be asking themselves, will they be seeing Hackettstown's Finest with a dog-face or smush-face filter? You never know but what they’ll definitely see are cool photos and stories," Sgt. Darren Tynan wrote in a press release.

Why Snapchat? “We want to connect to the whole Hackettstown community and we shouldn’t forget the younger generation. We want them to feel they have a close connection with their local police department,” Tynan said.

Snapchat can be downloaded on the iPhone App Store and the Android App Store for free. To add the Hackettstown Police Department our profile name is “HackettstownPD”, or users can take a picture of the Snap Code (pictured below) within the app, and it will automatically add the profile.
