Legislative District 23 Challengers Earn Key Endorsement in Warren County

Warren County, NJ - New Jersey Legislative District 23 challengers, Christine Lui Chen, Isaac Hadzovic and Laura Shaw this past Wednesday earned key endorsements at the Warren County Democratic Convention. Convention attendees reported the highest engagement and turnout in over 20 years.

Chen Lui Chen, a Bridgewater resident, is a neuroscientist and healthcare executive on a mission to expand innovation-driven job growth in central Jersey. She is running for State Senate to stand up to frivolous spending and ideological extremism. Chen said, “As a business leader, I’ve led large teams to bring life-saving drugs to patients. But in government, I see more finger-pointing than coalition building. That negativity is draining us. Imagine if we used that energy to solve real problems, such as creating good jobs and keeping Jersey affordable.” Chen is the first Asian American to ever run for NJ Senate in Legislative District 23.

Isaac Hadzovic is a businessman and former volunteer firefighter in Hackettstown. He is running for the General Assembly and said, "US News recently ranked New Jersey as having the least efficient government in America. We need new leadership that will make the government work for the people". He attended Kent State University where he received a degree in political science and a minor in economics.
Hadzovic has traveled to over 23 countries and is fluent in English, Bosnian, Serbian, Croatian, and Montenegrin. He is a proud first generation American whose family hosted over 200 refugee families during the 1990s Bosnian War.

Laura Shaw, an engineer from Clinton Township, brings 30 years of leadership from the telecommunications industry. Shaw said, “securing the Democratic endorsement is a critical step in this journey to Trenton. For my running mates and me, it is the enthusiasm of the delegates and the tidal wave of support we’re getting from the public that will get us all the way”.

Warren County Democratic Chairman Tom Palmieri stated that he is "thrilled and ecstatic to have Christine Chen for Senate, Isaac Hadzovic and Laura Shaw for Assembly, running in the 23rd district!". Palmieri added "This team is one of the strongest and best organized campaigns in New Jersey. The candidates are working around the clock to win votes from the entire political spectrum".
