Man Charged with DUI After Causing Multi-vehicle Accident: Police

Hackettstown Police arrested a Budd Lake man on Aug. 4 after he started a multiple car motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 46 and Route 517.

John Degrigoli, 21, was in his 2009 Toyota on Route 46 when he looked down for a moment and then struck a 2014 Ford, police said. The unoccupied Ford was parked along Route 46 and struck an unoccupied 2015 Toyota parked in front of it.

No one was injured in the accident, police said.

Police reported that Degrigoli said he didn't remember what happened after he looked down while driving. The officers said Degrigoli was acting impaired, so they brought in a Drug Recognition Expert to continue the investigation of Degrigoli.

Degrigoli was charged with driving while under the influence, careless driving, and failure to maintain lane, police said. He was released and is awaiting a court appearance.
