Man Jumped from Second Floor After Being Threatened With Knife, Cops Say

Victim found bleeding from mouth after argument over rent money, police report.

A Hackettstown man has been accused of threatening a male victim with a knife during an argument over rent money on Saturday, Hackettstown Police said.

Patrol units responded to the 100 Block of Main Street just before 7 p.m. on Aug. 2 for a report of an aggravated assault, police said. Upon arrival, patrol found a man standing and bleeding from the mouth, police said.

An investigation revealed Santiago Saqui, 50, had an argument with the victim over rent money, police said. During the argument, Saqui allegedly threatened the victim with a black knife.

Being scared, the victim jumped from a second story balcony, sustaining facial injuries, police said. He was transported to Hackettstown Regional Medical Center by the Hackettstown First Aid Squad.

Saqui was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and disorderly conduct.

Saqui was lodged in the Warren County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 bail.
