Mansfield Township Cub Scout Pack 222 Delivers Nearly 1,000 lbs. of Donations to Local Food Pantry

Pantry donations collected by Pack 222 Cub Scouts were delivered Sunday, November 9th to benefit the Community Food Pantry of Washington, NJ

Washington, NJ, November 9, 2014

Mansfield Township Pack 222 conducted a much needed community service project, a food drive at ShopRite of Washington, to benefit the food pantry of the First Presbyterian Church located in Washington, NJ.

This is the largest local service project of Mansfield Township Pack 222 conducted in partnership with the Boy Scouts of America and a National “Scouting for Food” event held across the country this weekend.

“We are happy to have the boys participate in this scouting for food activity with children feeding children; it is an important need that continues to grow in demand” says Pack Committee Member, Dawn Smith. “What’s really great about this is that our Cub Scouts not only solicit donations, they get a chance to visit a pantry in their community to help our boys understand that they may be helping a neighbor or a friend who might otherwise go hungry”.

“We are excited to participate in this national effort to continue the tradition of supporting local food pantries where Pack 222 has collected nearly 1,000 lbs. of food and non-food items this year” says Michelle Barrett, Cub Master. “We are so pleased with the generosity of the patrons of the supermarket; we cannot thank everyone enough for their support”.
