Members of the Public are Invited to Hackettstown Rotary Event

Washington, N.J., November 5, 2019 – Members of the community are invited to a special Hackettstown Rotary Club presentation at noon on November 19, 2019 at Panther Valley Country Club which is located at 1 Forest Drive in Allamuchy.

Guests will meet Dr. Benedicta Louisa Appiah-Thompson who is one of the leading ophthalmologists at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital in Ghana. Early this past October, her team hosted high-volume surgical outreach with support from the Himalayan Cataract Project (HCP) to restore sight to hundreds of individuals who had lost their vision due to cataracts. At the end of five days, the team of five surgeons set a new national record in Ghana of 713 sight-restoring surgeries.

“It is an honor to have Dr. Appiah-Thompson speak to the Hackettstown Rotary Club and to our guests,” says Laurie Rapisardi, President of The Hackettstown Club and Executive Director at Rutherfurd Hall. “Hackettstown Rotary has supported the Himalayan Cataract Project for several years and has donated funds to purchase a school bus to transport blind patients for treatment for this initiative.”

This event will include lunch, Dr. Appiah-Thompson’s presentation and an opportunity to meet members of the Hackettstown Rotary Club. The cost is $18.
