Hackettstown police replacing two vehicles in fleet with SUVs.

Christmas gifts came in the form of two new Sport Utility Vehicles for the Hackettstown Police Department recently, as the town council played the role of Santa Claus, approving the purchase of the automobiles at its last meeting of 2012.
The vehicles, which were requested by the police department in the 2012 budget, are a Dodge Durango and Chevy Tahoe, according to town administrator Bill Kuster.
The Durango comes with a $30,153 price tag, while the Tahoe is $32,233, Kuster said. The vehicles are replacing two others in the Hackettstown Police Department fleet, and are not in addition to, Chief Jim Macauley said. The fleet has a total of 10 vehicles, Macauley said.
