North Jersey Man Sexually Assaulted 8-Year-Old Child, Officials Say

The 49-year-old man was known to the victim, according to investigators.

WARREN COUNTY, NJ — A Warren County man is facing charges after an investigation found that he’d sexually assaulted an eight-year-old child, according to prosecutors.

Peter Santiago, 49, of Pohatcong, was arrested on Monday and charged with a number of crimes with regard to the alleged sexual abuse.

An investigation by the Warren County Special Victims Unit and the Pohatcong Township Police Department revealed that Santiago sexually abused the child, whom he knew, officials said.

He is now charged with three counts of sexual assault, two counts of aggravated sexual assault, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

If convicted, Santiago faces 25 years to life in prison and would be subject to supervision for life in the event of his release.
