Passed-Out N.J. Mom Found With Beer Can After Young Sons Ran Into Street In Hackettstown

The mother was found smelling like alcohol, and her 2-year-old and 5-year-old boys were in the street.

A passed-out New Jersey mother was charged this week when she was found with an open beer can, smelling like alcohol, after her kids ran out into a street, police said.

At approximately 5:39 p.m. on Wednesday, the Hackettstown Police responded to the 700 block of Washington Street in the town on a report of 2-year-old and 5-year-old running into the roadway, police said.

The citizen who stopped to call police said the kids told him/her that they couldn't wake their mom, police said.

When officers arrived on scene, the officers found Jamie Stollenmaier of Hackettstown passed out in a bed holding an open 16-ounce can of Budweiser. The officer also detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the woman.

She was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and was lodged in the Warren County Correctional Facility. The Division of Child Protection and Permanency took custody of the children.
