Same-Sex Marriage: No Proposals Yet in Hackettstown
While there have been some inquiries, no license applications have been filed, official says.

While there has been some interest, no same-sex marriage licenses have been issued in Hackettstown.
According to Bill Kuster, the registrar of vital statistics for Hackettstown, there have been a few inquiries, but no applications had been filed as of Monday afternoon.
After a New Jersey Superior Court Judge ruled same-sex marriage should be legal in the Garden State, and the withdrawal of Gov. Chris Christie’s appeal of the decision (the governor publicly stated he did not support the decision and believe the voters should decide in an election), the ability for homosexual couples to marry became legal Oct. 21.

In the first week since the constitution was amended, one same sex couple has been granted a marriage license in Washington Township, according to town’s health department.
There are more on the way, however.

The health department said another application is in the works, and a license is expected to be granted on Nov. 7. The town has been verbally advised another couple plans to apply for a license in the near future.
Washington Township is ahead of its western Morris County neighbors in this department, as neither Chester Borough, Chester Township, Mendham Township, nor Mendham Borough have had any same-sex marriage licenses applied for.
Civil unions were made legal by the New Jersey legislature in December 2006.
