Scholarship Program Drops College Tuition 75%

Centenary College implements Presidential Scholars Program for incoming students.

A new program designed to attract more students to Centenary College will help qualified candidates attend the institution for a drastically reduced rate, the college said in a release.

Applicants with a 3.4 grade point average through their college careers and an SAT score of 1100, or the ACT equivalent, will be eligible for the new Presidential Scholars Program, the release said.

Those selected to receive the scholarship will have a 75-percent discounted rate of tuition for four years, the college said. Those chosen would need to maintain certain academic standards to be eligible for the benefit each year.

Along with the financial benefits, students enrolled in this program will participate in a Junior Year Academic Challenge, where he or she will be paired with a faculty member to conduct independent research.

“This new Presidential Scholars Program is a carefully crafted approach to financially rewarding students who have excelled academically and who demonstrate a drive to be an active participant in their own community,” says Dr. Barbara-Jayne Lewthwaite. “The implementation and execution of this initiative is a testament to the institutional commitment to support our students and assist them with achieving their dream of pursuing a college education and receive the type of personal attention for which Centenary has become famous.”
