Shoplifter Tried Taking Bulk of Nicorette Gum from Target, Cops Say

Woman stuffed more than $200 of goods in her purse before being caught, police report.

A Hackettstown woman was arrested this week for allegedly stealing more than $200 worth of merchandise from the Target department store on Rt. 46 in Washington Township, police said.

Officer Scott Meyers responded to the Target store on Wednesday for the report of a shoplifter in custody at the store, Lt. Mark Niemynski said. Upon arrival, Meyers found Linda Harris, 55, of Hackettstown who allegedly was seen by loss prevention officials taking items and putting them in her purse without paying, Niemynski said. Of the more than $200 in stolen merchandise, a bulk of it was Nicorette gum, Niemynski said.

Harris was arrested and processed. She was released pending a court appearance.
