Teen Crashes BMW Into House In Hackettstown: Police
The 17-year-old was trying to avoid a deer and hit the house, nearly injuring a man in the living room, police said.
A 17-year-old Hackettstown teen who was trying to avoid a deer on Lawrence Drive crashed his car into a house, nearly injuring a resident inside, police said. The family has since been displaced from the home due to structural damage, police said.
According to Hackettstown Police, the incident happened just after 9:30 p.m. Friday, when the teen was going west on the roadway and two deer crossed in front of his 2014 BMW.
The teen tried to avoid the deer, but lost control and crashed into the house, police said.

“When the car crashed into the house, it launched a computer and it nearly missed a male resident who was sitting in the room,” police said.
No serious injures were reported to either the resident or the driver.

The Hunterdon County Technical Rescue Task Force responded for shoring the structure, police said. Due to the structural damage, the house was determined to be uninhabitable and the residents have been displaced, police said.
Assisting at the scene was: the Hackettstown Fire Department, Hackettstown Fire Police, Hackettstown Rescue Squad, Hackettstown Office of Emergency Management, Hackettstown Municipal Utility Authority, JCP&L and Elizabethtown Gas Company.
