Trapped Ducklings Rescued By Hackettstown Police

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — Hackettstown police officers made a particularly adorable rescue Monday morning, freeing five ducklings from a storm drain as their mother watched on.

Around 7 a.m., police began the rescue mission in a Water Street storm drain. As the ducks were crossing the road, they passed over the storm drain and five fell in.

Officers were able to pull four from the drain, but a fifth duck ran through the pipes, evading officers. Using the town's street sweeper and a resident's garden hose, officers were able to free the stuck duckling and scoop him up with a net.

None of the ducklings were injured, and were reunited with their mother, who kept a watchful eye as officers worked.
